icon Comparison Of Online Education Providers In India
As my MBA project, I was given to study K-12 Online Education market in India. To my surprise I found many competitors, than I estimated in market. Few are established, some of them are trying to get established and some are new entrants in this segment. To name, Tutorvista, Meritnation and Learnnext are well established brands. While sites like extramarks.com, ezeelearning.com, topperlearning, smartlearning.in are on the way of creating their market. There are some niche educational sites like e-class.in and 24x7guru.com also, which cater for only limited requirements. These sites differ from segment catering to way of imparting knowledge. Some provide direct online education while others provide multimedia material in form of CD/DVD and usb pen drives.

Let me start with comparison :

1. Tutorvista (www.tutorvista.co.in)
Board / Class catering : Nothing specific i.e. Common content for whole K-12
Content type : Animations
Additional Features : Offline help
My Rating (Out of 5): Study Material – 4 Value for money – 3

2. Meritnation (www.meritnation.com)
Board / Class catering : CBSE (Class 1st to 12th)- ICSE (Class 6th to 11th) and few state boards
Content type : Animations and videos
Additional Features : NCERT solutions and Interactive activities
My Rating (Out of 5): Study Material – 3.5 Value for money – 3.5

3. Learnnext (www.learnnext.com)
Board / Class catering : CBSE-ICSE Board and state boards, Class 6th to 10th
Content type : Animation videos
Additional Features : Planner and notes
My Rating (Out of 5): Study Material – 4 Value for money – 4

4. Extramarks (www.extramarks.com)
Board / Class catering : CBSE class 6th to 12th
Content type : Mind maps (latest tool) and visual-graphical presentation
Additional Features : Creativity zone and ask teacher
My Rating (Out of 5): Study Material – 3 Value for money – 3.5

5. EzeeLearning (www.ezeelearning.com)
Board / Class catering : CBSE - ICSE both, Class 6th to 12th
Content type : Mind maps (latest tool), Computer Based Trainings with animations, Videos

My Rating (Out of 5): Study Material – 4 Value for money – 4.5

6. Topperlearning (www.topperlearning.com)
Board / Class catering : CBSE and ICSE for class 9th to 12th
Content type : Animation videos
Additional Features : Ask expert
My Rating (Out of 5): Study Material – 3.5 Value for money – 3.5

7. Smartlearning (www.smartlearning.in)
Board / Class catering : CBSE Board Class 8th to 10th
Content type : Animation and audio – video lectures
Additional Features : Works with DVD, Solution of important and previous year board papers
My Rating (Out of 5): Study Material – 3.5 Value for money – 4

Final verdict : Don’t go by brand names only. Newly started ventures are also performing very well. I went through demos of all mentioned websites; analyze each demo with topic relevance, depth and presentation. Some spread their kingdom over various boards, some took charge of too many subjects and some are representing whole school life. But, just increasing your kingdom does not make you efficient.
Few sites are riding with their brand promoters while some are just trying to connect students through marketing strategies.
Taking all considerations, along with quality and pricing, I believe that one should go with www.ezeelearning.com. I really liked its content depth in mind maps, videos and animations. Mind maps seems to be a immortal tool for learning. Concept of Computer based training really thrilled me. Combination of texual notes, audio and animation forms a deadly combo for eradicating doubts and enhancing concepts. However animation part is little bit low but overall package comes out to be good. Test generation was soothing as I was able to generate test according to my will. Ask the expert worked nicely to clear doubts while student report was looking as an emerging and latest concept. Virtual classroom, common feature in most sites is a good option to clear concepts regarding any topic. I also liked the planner, where you can plan your studies and get alerts if you miss deadlines. The most beautiful part of site is that parents can get alerts and detailed reports about their ward’s performance. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS SITE.
I have subscribed it for my younger brother and I hope it will work well for him.
